The budding company Same Day Pups is giving a whole new meaning to the term “special delivery.” Head on over to their website, and with the click of a mouse a certified purebred puppy will be drone-delivered to your doorstep that very same day.
Flying puppies?! It almost sounds too good to be true!
Because it is.
COPILOT recently teamed up with advertising agency Rokkan and production company Ghost Robot to create a spot for the Humane Society directing attention to the dark side of buying puppies online or in stores.
The commercial follows the journey of a Chihuahua puppy named Scout, bought online by its new, eagerly awaiting family. He launches off and flies under bridges, over power lines and across town (flying along side fellow drone puppies along the way), to land gently in his new front yard. The final scene guides you to the website samedaypups.com with the slogan “Find a pup. Get a pup. Today.”
In the background plays COPILOT’s revamp of George Evan’s 1904 classic “Come Take A Trip On My Airship” which was “revived and repurposed, with a fresh feel and bright new sound.”
At first glance, the website appears bright, colorful and cute. But with one click that cuddly mailorder puppy site reveals its truly sinister backstory: puppy mills.
The brilliant campaign went viral, landing #5 on Ad Age’s Viral Video Chart and a feature article on Upworthy.
COPILOT’s take: “Music is truly at its best when it can be used to help others.”
