Peligro Music Helps Kids Discover Code

peligro music sound design

Code.org, a clever new organization helping foster our next generation of code programmers, found a perfect soundtrack for its new promotional documentary thanks to MAM Fam member Greg Kuehn with Peligro Music.

The doc's director, Lesley Chilcott, has worked on projects with Greg before. She sent him some examples of what she was looking for musically, and they worked together from there to find the right fit.

"It's really the interaction with the director," said Greg of the scoring process, "and to serve the vision of what she wants for the piece."

Part of that vision was to snag the attention of Code.org's target audience: school children.

"One of our goals was to keep it youthful but also forward thinking," Greg said. "To bring out the characters and people who are enthusiastically talking about coding. We were trying to make it as interesting as possible for kids: keeping technology in it and also the human element. To keep it uplifting."

After watching the promo, Code.org has quickly become MAM's new favorite non-profit. When you live for spreadsheets and music data (like we do), encouraging U.S. schools to demystify code as language -- and for kids to get involved in the process -- sounds like a pretty wonderful idea.
