MAM has been blessed with a new addition to its clever ranks: meet Davis Wilson, our new Performance Analyst (AKA: Song Ninja).

Since joining MAM back in November, Davis has been helping prep and organize works for submission to their relevant PROs. In the process, he's helped us discover new ways to streamline our workspace into a humming model of high-tech efficiency.

"I also like the analytical stuff, the discovery, the detail; figuring out how to find stuff and make the connections," says Davis. "It's definitely brain work. But it keeps me charged and I like how new it feels: how you go about it changes all the time."

The commercial music royalty process has changed a lot since Davis helped search for performance data on Competitrack back in high school for his mom, Nan Wilson. He says it's been fun to watch her grow the business over the years, and that MAM recently had reached a place in its evolution where he felt he had skills and ideas to contribute and help make a difference.

"My mom is super great; what she stands for inside of what her clients and her employees get in their lives is so amazing and progressive," Davis says. "I'm excited every day. And that's why I joined: I saw it as something I can do. And it gives me a chance to use my brain in ways that I've never tried to use it before."

He added that one of the keys to helping MAM continue to innovate its processes is by "actively listening" to clients and how they create.

"A lot of the technology we use is from hearing what other people are using," says Davis. "For example, our clients already use Soundminer to embed their metadata. They were already sending us tracks that were embedded with the data we needed to upload into TuneSat and Landmark, but we couldn't see it because we didn't have Soundminer. So it was just hearing what they had, and being like, 'Why don't we use Soundminer?'"

"I LOVE music!" laughs Davis. "And now I get to listen to it all the time!"
